Yes, Eva from Read While It Rains and I are back once again with the Christmas Readathon!
As usual the Readathon runs from 17th to 31st December and is designed to be super chill, so double up on your prompts, adapt them or ignore any that you don’t fancy, so long as you devote some time to reading before the end of the year.

We have 7 prompts for you again this year all themed around Christmas food, so be sure to have some snacks while you’re reading.
Prompt 1: Brussels Sprouts – read a book outside your comfort zone. This could also be a book you’ve been putting off because you find it intimidating.
Prompt 2: Gingerbread House – read a book with family and friendship at the centre of the story. Or dare I say, found family?
Prompt 3: Mince Pies: read a book with less than 250 pages – something quick to help you towards those reading goals.
Prompt 4: Hot Chocolate – read a cosy book (bonus points if you’re sipping your favourite winter drink at the time)
Prompt 5: Pigs in Blankets – Jolabokaflod, buy someone a book and spend some of Christmas Eve reading. Jolabokaflod is an Icelandic tradition that we include every year. I wasn’t sure how we were going to fit it into a food theme, and then I found out that hot dogs are an Icelandic specialty, which is the same food group as pigs in blankets…
Prompt 6: Candy Canes – read a book with a festive cover. Snowflakes, greens, reds, sparkles, anything will do!
Prompt 7: Christmas Pudding – read a book with magic or surprises. The idea for this prompt came from the Stir up Sunday tradition. The last Sunday before advent is known as Stir up Sunday because of a prayer that is used in Anglican Church services on that day. It also became traditional to make the Christmas pudding on that day so the spices had time to mature before Christmas. Each family member would take it in turns to ‘Stir Up’ the pudding, and make a wish as they did.
So that’s all the prompts for this year’s Christmas Readathon! I hope you’ll join us in some festive reading this year. I’m starting to plan out my tbr… what do you think you might pick up?
We also have a storygraph challenge you can join to show us your books!
