Once again another month has slipped away without me finding much time to write… But I have a bit of leave at the start of this month so I’m hoping to get a bit of reading and reviewing done!
September was a slow reading month, and I did not make much progress with my TBR. August had been a bit more successful, but has still left a big old stack of books to get through. Added to that, my currently reading shelf is still horrendously out of control. So I am dubbing October a catch up month, to try to get to some of the books from the last few months TBRs that I haven’t picked up yet. In the interests of saving us all a bit of time, I’m not going to write out all the books again from the last two months, I’m just going to link them for you here: August and September. And for the rest of this post I’m just going to tell you about a couple of additional things I’m planning to pick up, namely two books I’m taking part in book tours for!
- His Head on a Platter by Alan Gould – this is a fictionalised autobiography of Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi, interspersed with a modern storyline following art enthusiast David as he learns more about Artemisia and her life and work. I’m already a few chapters in and loving it! Look out for my review on the book tour on 18th October.
- House of Dreams by Mark Stibbe – the blurb describes this book as ‘a magical tale about a 500-year-old Tudor house – its ghosts, its trauma, its treasures, and its secrets’. The protagonist comes across an old house for sale by chance and decides to buy it, later discovering it was once home to Catherine Parr, sixth wife of Henry VIII. In his dreams, the house reveals its story to him. The mysterious vibes will makes this a perfect autumn read, I think! As a fan of anything Tudor Queen related (mentally singing the Six soundtrack as I type this) I just had to sign up for this tour. My review will be out on 25th October.
Added to this, I may pick up a few random things from my TBR, we shall see. What are you reading this month?
